What qualifications do I need to gain entry into the MPA?
You need to have completed a Bachelors Degree in a relevant field and have at least 12 months relevant work experience, or have worked in a senior position with the Public Sector for more than 10 years. Students without a first degree will initially need to enrol in the Graduate Certificate and on successful completed can then articulate directly, with advanced standing into the MPA.
How much does each units cost?
This will vary depending on whether the unit is offered at UWA or Curtin and the faculty offering the unit. Prices vary but can be clarified when seeking enrolment advice. Fee-Help is available for domestic fee paying students. Please contact Mrs Tracy Wilson on 9266 1111 or jcipp@curtin.edu.au for the Fee-Help brochure and application form.
Are units offered outside working hours?
Many units are offered either in the evening after working hours or sometimes through an intensive delivery mode, e.g. over two week ends. Information will be available under 'Timetabling Information' under Current Students. At this stage very few units (some of the electives only) are offered through online delivery.
Can I study on a part-time basis?
The MPA, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate can all be completed on a part-time basis to suit students who are working full-time.
How do I go about applying and enrolling in the courses?
Please see the Key Contacts page for staff, who will forward you electronically an application form. Once you have completed and submitted the application form, if successful, you will be send a letter of offer and a unit enrolment form.
How many units need to be complete?
The MPA comprises 12 units, the Graduate Diploma, 8 units and the Graduate Certificate 4 units.
Can I apply for recognition of prior learning (Curtin) or advanced standing (UWA)?
Up to 50 per cent of the course requirements attained from previous relevant postgraduate course work qualifications (completed within the last 10 years) will be considered for advanced standing towards the MPA. No advanced standing is awarded for the Graduate Certificate as this has only four units. However, if on completion of the Graduate Certificate you decide to articulate into the MPA previous postgraduate units completed will be considered. Please see the Admission criteria page for details on applying for advanced standing.
