Welcome to the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program.
The MPA program is jointly conducted by the John Curtin Institute of Public Policy at Curtin University of Technology and the Faculty of Law at The University of Western Australia. It instructs both full-time and part-time students at campuses of both universities in Perth, Western Australia.
The Program features three postgraduate award courses in public administration and public policy, offering graduate certificates and diplomas in public administration (Curtin only) as well as the program's flagship qualification, the Master of Public Administration, which is taught jointly by both universities.
The MPA is designed for public sector professionals in the Commonwealth, State and Local Public Service in Australia as well as international students. It provides educational services to the public sector (and those associated with that sector) through both award degrees and shorter non-award courses.
Both partner organisations have lecturers with extensive experience in public policy and administration and offer linkages to Australian and international experts in the area.
All students receive training in public policy formation and public administration, as well as public sector management and leadership. Students have a wide variety of options within the course to study topics such as ethics, communications, economic policy and a variety of law and legal studies options. The degree provides an opportunity for specialisation in such areas as public administration, public policy, public finance and governance.
The MPA will prepare students for career progression in the public sector either as policy analysts or as managers and administrators.
